Dont't Dream It, Drive It

1983 Porsche 911 Super Carrera Cabrio - US Model

Porsche 911 series has always been a synonym in America for speed, fast acceleration, good cornering and good braking.

The 911 SC Cabriolet was the brainchild of Peter Schutz (Porsche's managing director from 1981 to 1988). Originally, the 911 model line was to be dropped from production in favor of the front-engine 944 and 928 models.
Schutz reversed the cancellation of the 911 series and even added the convertible model.
1983 was the only year where the Porsche 911 SC was offered as a convertible. Only about 1700 of them were built.

Despite a large price surcharge compared to the coupe, the convertible version was very popular and still is today. The convertible version built in 1983 is already considered a classic.

Peter Schutz also reinvested in motorsport after Porsche had greatly reduced its motorsport involvement in previous years for economic reasons, resulting in seven victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1981 and 1987.
